Privacy policy

Last updated: 3 August 2026

RF GT40 Pty Ltd, trading as Roaring Forties, builds GT40 construction kits and provides build support from a workshop at Pakenham, Victoria. We have been doing that since 1997. This policy explains what happens to your personal information when you visit this website or contact us.

Where we stand legally

We are a small business. The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) does not automatically cover businesses under its annual turnover threshold, so we make no claim about whether that Act binds us. Either way, we have chosen to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles, because that is the standard we would want if we were the ones filling in the form.

RF GT40 Pty Ltd. ABN 38 262 264 053.

What we collect

Through the enquiry form

Your name, email address and message are required. Your phone number and your state or country are optional. The form also sends whichever car you have selected in the interest dropdown. You decide what goes in the message.

When you contact us directly

If you call or email us, we hold whatever you tell us in that call or email, along with your phone number or email address.

Automatically, as you browse

Our hosting provider logs standard technical information: your IP address, your browser type, the pages you request and when you requested them. This keeps the site running and helps us see when something is broken or being attacked.

Some of the third parties listed further down also receive your IP address, because that is simply how your browser fetches their content. The third-party section sets out which ones, and at what point.

What we do not collect

There is no account, no login, no shopping cart and no mailing list sign-up on this site. We do not set any cookies of our own, and we do not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.

Please do not send us sensitive information, such as health, financial account or government identifier details, through the enquiry form. If we need something like that for a build, we will arrange a more suitable way to collect it.

Why we collect it and how we use it

We use your information to:

  • answer your enquiry and your questions about the car, the kits, pricing and lead times;
  • prepare quotes, arrange a build slot, and stay in touch with you while a build is under way; and
  • keep this website working and secure.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or use it for advertising, and we will not add you to a mailing list because you sent an enquiry.

What this site loads from third parties

This site is deliberately light on third parties, but it is not free of them, and some of them are contacted before you do anything at all. Here is exactly what is involved and when.

Google Fonts

The typefaces on this site are served from Google's font network. They are requested as soon as a page starts loading, so Google receives your IP address and basic browser details on every visit.

Web3Forms

The enquiry form is processed by Web3Forms, an external form service. When you press Send enquiry, everything you typed into the form goes to Web3Forms, which delivers it to our email inbox. Web3Forms also loads a small script on every page view of the main page, whether or not you use the form, because that script is what draws the anti-bot check below.

hCaptcha

The "I am human" check on the enquiry form is hCaptcha. The Web3Forms script loads hCaptcha's own script and an iframe from hCaptcha when the main page loads, so hCaptcha receives your IP address on every visit to that page, not only when you submit the form. hCaptcha may set its own cookies and collect information about your browser and how you interact with the check, which is how it tells people apart from bots. That handling is governed by hCaptcha's own terms and privacy policy.

Google Maps

The workshop card in the enquiry section holds a Google Maps embed. It is not loaded when the page opens, and you do not have to click anything to load it. It loads by itself once you scroll far enough down the page that the workshop card is about to come into view. In plain terms: if you scroll as far as the enquiry section, your IP address is sent to Google and the map appears without you asking for it. If you never scroll that far, nothing is sent to Google.

Beside the map there is a plain "Open in Google Maps" text link. That one only contacts Google if you choose to click it.

YouTube

The Film section holds four videos, and they behave differently from the map. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you click a video. Until you do, you are only looking at a still image served from this site. When you click, the video plays through youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed, which reduces but does not remove the information YouTube receives about you. From the moment you press play, YouTube's own privacy policy covers your viewing.

Hosting

This site is hosted on cPanel hosting supplied by Crazy Domains, part of Dreamscape Networks, on servers in Perth, Australia. Our host holds the standard server logs described above.

The Paint Shop colour tool

The Paint Shop runs entirely inside your browser. It loads nothing from a third party, saves nothing, and tells us nothing about the colours you try.

Who we share it with

We share what you send us only with the providers that help us run the site and the business, and only so they can do the job they are there for:

  • Web3Forms, to process enquiry submissions and deliver them to our inbox;
  • hCaptcha, to run the anti-bot check on the form; and
  • our hosting provider, to serve the site and keep server logs.

Google and YouTube receive your IP address and browser details when their content loads, as described above. We do not send them the contents of your enquiry.

Web3Forms, hCaptcha, Google and YouTube are all overseas operators, and they may store or process information on servers outside Australia. By using the enquiry form, or by loading a page that includes their content, you accept that your information may be handled outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to use providers that protect information properly, but we do not control their systems.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies

We do not set any cookies of our own, and there are no analytics or advertising cookies on this site. hCaptcha may set its own cookies as part of the anti-bot check, and YouTube may set cookies once you press play on a video, although the youtube-nocookie embed limits that. If we ever add website analytics, we will choose a privacy-focused, cookieless service and update this page before it goes live.

How we store and protect it

Enquiries arrive in our email inbox and stay there. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including serving this site over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and keeping our accounts protected. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

We keep enquiry information for as long as we need it to answer you, to carry out any work you go on to order, and to meet our business and record-keeping obligations. After that we delete it.

Getting a copy, or correcting it

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing [email protected] or calling 0416 268 645. We will respond within a reasonable time, and if we cannot give you what you have asked for, we will tell you why.

Complaints

If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version, with its last updated date at the top, will always be on this page. If we change how we handle information you have already given us, we will say so here.
